Wow! We were so busy during the month of January.

The kids had so much fun making new friends, exploring together, and creating together. We had 4 nature classes where we learned about the Mangrove ecosystem. Ms. Stacey of #Philanthrolab taught 2 classes, All about static and Rainbow of colors. We had 8 forest school classes as well. Don't delay in registering! Come join us for an adventure in nature next week. #midpinellaslearnplay #natureschool #forestschool #1000hoursoutside #philanthrolab #sticklets #childled #childledle

Our first week of our winter semester 2020!

We are transitioning beautifully to a nature school. Thank you to everyone who has signed up thus far this semester. We still have space for a few more families to join us. Our age group thus far is 0-14! All of the children are making wonderful connections with one another. We started off our semester with a science class about static electricity, on Tuesday we learned about Mangrove trees in nature school, on Wednesday we played with stick lets and explored our basecamp, Fr

Mid Pinellas Learn and Play final post of 2019

We are transitioning beautifully to a nature school. The children are super receptive to the small changes we are making. Children learn best when they are having fun playing and exploring. So far we have unveiled our stick let's, sensory art, balancing buckets, math game, and nature cards. Below, is a small sample of what to expect and so much more. The parents who have already signed up are super excited with the changes to come in 2020. We have so much more in store for th

What is different about Mid Pinellas Learn and Play?

We are a nature school which means our learning takes place in nature. Learning unfolds as each child's inquisitive mind ask questions and we respond with answers. This is what child-led learning means to me. Children learn best when they are having fun playing and exploring. We have so much in store for the children who will attend our winter 2020 semester. So far we have unveiled our stick let's and balancing buckets. In the next few weeks we will be unveiling our nature ca

    Our newest forest school location

Our newest spot is nestled in the middle of an Oak Hammock. This is the third location we have added to our schedule. The children really love being able to play in the forest and we were ecstatic to find another awesome spot to explore .#midpinellaslearnandplay #forestschool “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." How did Mid Pinellas Learn and Play start?

Mid Pinellas started in January of 2018 as a weekly playground meet up. We slowly added #philanthrolab science classes, then nature walks, beach school and forest school. We are evolving based on the needs and desires of our members. This group has been making a natural progression based off of the children who attend. We always had transitioning to an LLC in our future. and that dream became a reality in October of 2019. We are adding more experiences and connections with na

    Beach School 2019

We had a blast with Beach School in 2019. We will be changing up beach school for the 2020 calendar year. The Gulf of Mexico is a wealth of knowledge. “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." What is coming for forest school in 2020?

We will have forest school on two different days with three locations to choose from! This will best fit people in more areas with locations that best fit them. Here is a glimpse of our newest location! “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." What does a day in the forest look like?

For the winter and spring of 2019 we had one location and by the end of spring we found what would be our second location to start up in the summer. These two locations could not be any different.#midpinellaslearnandplay #forestschool “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." Nature Walks

What do our nature walks look like? I will use a walk from September as an example. This happens to be a favorite for kids and moms alike. “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." Charlotte Mason This park is so different from all of the other parks that we visit. There are Magnolia trees and large live oak trees ripe for climbing

Staying cool in the summer of 2019!

We changed gears and picked out our local parks and nature preserves with the most amount of shade or water fun for the children and adults. The Florida heat and humidity isn't something to mess with. We started meeting up earlier in the morning to avoid the high heat index of 100+ degree afternoons. The children are really starting to notice changes with trees and plants in bloom. “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a

    Mushroom foraging

On September 3, 2019 we were lucky enough to have Sara Palm a local nature teacher who runs #naturefundamentals join us. The forecast was calling for high humidity an a very high chance of rain all day. “We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the Marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things." Charlotte Mason We didn't feel like being trapped inside with the impending storm so we
